Klemens Schnorr, born in 1949 in Amorbach/Odenwald, studied at Munich conservatory and the University of Munich (organ masterclass with Franz Lehrndorfer, musicology with Rudolf Bockholdt), was professor for organ at Freiburg conservatory until his retirement in 2014, as well as cathedral organist at Freiburg Cathedral from 1998 to 2012 and founding rector of the Academy for Catholic Church Music and Music Pedagogy in Regensburg in 2002/03. Before his appointment to Freiburg, he worked as a church musician, professor and organ expert in Munich and Wurzburg. Apart from teaching and performing concerts, he has also worked as an arranger and editor and published works about organ music and organ playing (articles in Handbook of Organ Music, Kassel 2002 and Lexicon of Church Music, Laaber 2013, among others). In 2014, he was presented with the French gramophone award Léon d’or for his recording of Boëllmann’s Intégrale de l’œuvre d’orgue, vol.3.
